Why All of the Lions Roar

Roaring Lion
There are many reasons why lions roar. In most cases, lions roar to communicate with one another. Lions roar both to other lions that live in the same pride as well as lions from other prides. Lions roar to other rival pride in order to let them know where they are located and how strong they are. This is important because these creatures are very territorial. Lions are able to distinguish whether the roars that they hear at dusk and at dawn are from their own pride or if they are coming from a different pride, and this is like how humans can recognize each other's voices.
